Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Surveys and Risk Assessments

Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Surveys and Risk Assessments (Division 6) detail the location and condition of asbestos and other hazardous materials that may be disturbed during demolition or refurbishment works on a building, structure, ship or plant where asbestos is fixed or installed.

Identifibre’s asbestos and hazardous materials surveys and risk assessments comply with the requirements of Division 6 Demolition and refurbishment where asbestos is present of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (VIC).

Identifibre’s surveys and risk assessments are extensive, clear and precise and cover a range of hazardous materials including:

  • Asbestos
  • Lead
  • Synthetic Mineral Fibre (SMF)
  • Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
  • Biological Hazards such as mould, pigeon droppings or animal carcasses

The purpose of a Division 6 Demolition/Refurbishment Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Survey and Risk Assessment is to ensure that all reasonably accessible hazardous materials in the workplace are identified in order that any associated risk can be controlled before and during planned works.

The survey/assessment involves the physical inspection of the site, collection of material samples and consideration of other relevant information. A comprehensive report is provided with the following information:

  • NATA accredited sample analysis results of material collected
  • An asbestos and/or hazardous materials register
  • Recommendations and priorities for control of hazards prior to works commencing
  • A risk assessment of the potential for exposure of personnel to airborne asbestos or other hazards

Identifibre’s NATA accredited in-house laboratory provides a NATA accredited sample analysis report for all samples collected.
