Respiratory Protection Fit Testing
All personnel who are required to remove or disturb asbestos containing materials must use adequate respiratory protection for the task, this includes tight-fitting and loose-fitting respirators.
Fit testing should be conducted for all individuals for all tight-fitting respirators. The performance of tight-fitting respirators is dependent on a seal being achieved between the wearer’s skin and the respirator seal. Where this seal is not achieved, the level of protection (assigned protection factor) of the respirator will not be met.
Fit testing will identify suitable and unsuitable respirators for individual facial characteristics.
Identifibre offers qualitative respirator fit testing using the condensate nuclei counting (CNC) method. CNC fit testing allows for testing of all types of tight-fitting masks, including:
- P2 and N95 disposable respirators
- Elastomeric half face reusable respirators
- Elastomeric full face reusable respirators
- Half face/full face powered air purifying respirators (PAPR)
- Half face/full face supplied air respirators
All Identifibre fit testers are RESP-Fit accredited.
Fit testing can be conducted in our office located at 67 Atherton Road, Oakleigh, or at your workplace.
